Apple Vision Pro Shows Promising Performance in Radiology

A new study shows that Apple’s Vision Pro headset performs nearly on par with desktop computers in radiology.

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, suggests that Apple Vision Pro could be used in hospitals. Specifically, it aimed to compare diagnostic performance when using Vision Pro versus a desktop computer.

Researchers highlighted “new opportunities for 3D virtualization” and the ergonomics of Vision Pro. In the study, radiologists used Vision Pro along with the Visage Ease VP app to review 100 CT scans for diagnosing diverticulitis. The results were then compared with reviewing the same scans on a desktop computer.

The study’s findings indicate there is “no significant difference” in the diagnostic performance between radiologists using Vision Pro and those using a desktop.

Given the importance of CT scans in radiology, the question arises as to whether all details of CT scan images are visible on mixed-reality headsets. The study results show that Vision Pro can be used effectively for this purpose.

The researchers’ study suggests that Vision Pro opens new doors to opportunities in 3D visualization and radiology.
