Is the OLED MacBook Air Launching Later Than Expected?

The release of the first MacBook Air equipped with an OLED display has been delayed and may not occur until 2027. Previously, rumors suggested that Apple intended to equip its MacBooks with OLED displays. Now, it appears the company might postpone the launch of its most affordable MacBook featuring an OLED panel.

Market analysts had anticipated that Apple would release a MacBook Pro with an OLED display in 2026 and a MacBook Air OLED in 2027. However, according to a report from the Korean website The Elec, citing supply chain sources, the MacBook Air OLED might be released later than expected.

In early 2024, reports emerged about delays in the production of components necessary for manufacturing the MacBook Air OLED. Apple has also utilized OLED displays in new iPad Pro models, which have not achieved significant sales.

The production cost of OLED displays is likely one reason for the delayed release of the MacBook Air OLED, as it seems only Samsung and LG can supply the required screens.
